Unfortunately the photos don`t do the views justice, but rest assured, from the hill-top location you can see past the valley to the high mountains beyond and probably watch the changing light all day…..

Welcome to Offbeat Bulgaria!
The house is over 2 floors and has a great deal of Balkan charm and the wooden beams and ceilings that you would expect. Upstairs is a small veranda and 3 rooms off, one being ideal to bring a bathroom into. Downstairs is more rustic with the wooden beams and now very comfortable with a very substantial feeling and is nice and light. It`s been much improved by resurfaced walls and some great floor tiles through 2 of the rooms. Plus there is now new wood effect double glazing on the whole ground floor, including a proper new door – all looking very smart!
The upper floor has benefitted from new ceilings throughout and a partially laid new wooden floor. A room ideal for a bathroom has been created, just minor work needed here. Most importantly, the roof has been replaced, including a whole new framework of rafters – very professionally done. Outside the render has been repaired and painted white, with the new roof soffits stained a traditional dark brown – lovely!
The garden is plenty big enough at 675 m2, is entered by double gates and there are the footprints for other out-buildings if you require that kind of space. It`s a bit of a jungle at the moment, but south facing and apparently was very productive in the past – now`s your chance!
Golyama Brestnitza itself is a hill-top village near to Yablanitsa, overlooking in one direction mountains and in another, rolling hills towards the Danube Plain. Access is good, with one of the best roads in the area, and being on a hill gives the village great charm and a pleasant climate. There is a bar and a couple of shops and a post office, with more facilities within a few km. It`s a very peaceful and tranquil spot and has a community feel that`s not always apparent in many other villages. It`s relatively undiscovered, surprisingly still great value and an English couple we know who have a house there can`t speak highly enough of the place. Recommended!
